The Lincoln Christian girls basketball team finished strong with a third place win after falling short in the semi-final game in the state tournament. This was the fourth straight year that the girls have made it to the semi-final or championship game and the ninth out of ten years of going to state and representing our school and more importantly the name of Christ. Our tough schedule has helped us to improve throughout the season and become a team that is battle tested and ready for postseason competition. We graduated a very good senior class last year which helped us win the C-1 state championship for the second time in girls basketball history. This year’s seniors have continued the tradition and have been a big part of the success and growth of the program the last four years. Seniors Chloe Dworak, Emie Hollenbeck and Avery Dolliver have led well and accomplished much and will be missed.
The theme for the program the last couple of years has been “Together”. Playing together. Staying together. Winning together. Losing together. Learning together. Growing together. The girls have once again trusted and embraced the process and all that goes into a basketball season. The ups and downs in a season become lessons to grow upon and have developed the character of each player and the team as a whole. The laboratory for Christian growth is unique in the game of basketball and we look for those “teachable moments” that each practice, game and season brings. I’m thankful for the girls who committed to being part of something bigger than themselves. #morethanbasketball
