Athletics

The athletic programs at Lincoln Christian exist to support the mission of the school – challenging and encouraging each student’s spiritual growth by teaching and modeling genuine Christian character.

Athletics provides an arena for Christian growth that is unique to the rest of the school environment.

These experiences develop fundamentals of the Christian faith: humility, selflessness, love, unity, self-discipline, courage, perseverance, hard work and sacrifice.

The objective of our program is to succeed, but the primary goal of our program is to strengthen each student’s relationship with Christ and to glorify Him.

Fine Arts

At Lincoln Christian, we view art as an expression of beauty and creativity. This takes many forms for our students from vocal and instrumental music to drama and art.

Exploring the arts is another way to develop critical thinking skills in our students and we’re thankful of the way we’ve seen students step into their strengths and bring glory to Christ.

Choir

Singing praises to God is what we do at LCS and what better place to do that than in our choir!  Students of all ability levels are welcome to join our Choir which performs at several concerts throughout the year. A select group of students from the Choir also get to deliver Singing Valentines each February!

Elementary Music

Vocal Music time is a highlight of each day for elementary students.  We sing praises to our Lord and we use music to help memorize scripture to learn truth.  Students perform a breathtaking Christmas concert as well as at Grandparents Day and at the Spring Concert each May.

Marching Band

First-quarter brings the band outside to the field to learn a full marching competition show. Upperclassmen provide leadership to the underclassmen as well as opportunities for Drum Majors and Color Guard.   The Band competes at 3 local competitions each fall as well as performing in Lincoln’s Veteran’s Day Parade.

Strings

Our students can begin playing a string instrument in 5th grade and continue to have a strings class throughout high school. Many of our string students have received music scholarships at many great programs including Wheaton CollegeMoody Bible Institute and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln

Jazz Band

The LCS Varsity Jazz Band is the 2 time defending State Champions!  Jazz Band is an auditioned group made up of Saxes, Trumpets, Trombones, and a full rhythm section including Guitar, Bass, Piano, Trap Set, and Vibes.   They perform each year

Concert Band

Concert Band serves as the foundation of all instrumental music at LCS.  They play a wide variety of music throughout the year including Patriotic Music for our Veteran’s Day Chapel, and traditional Christmas music to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

Theatre

Our theatre department puts on two plays during the school year. These include a fall play, and a spring play or musical. Theatre also competes in conference, district and state competitions.

Art

We have an outstanding preschool – 12th grade art program that has received numerous awards from the Nebraska State Visual Arts Competition in watercolor and ink, scratchboard, pencil and acrylic painting pieces.

Student Organizations

Our student organizations allow students to build life skills outside of the classroom. These groups provide unique learning and social experiences while cultivating a unified school community.

We’ve enjoyed watching students grow academically and spiritually through these organizations. Our hope is that these groups build strong bonds between our students and an even stronger connection to Christ.

Chapel Worship Team

For secondary students, the worship team is an integral part of our chapel. Every Friday, the worship team leads students in music and worship. These students are given an opportunity to share their gifts to glorify the Lord and encourage their fellow students.

Primary Chapel occurs every Wednesday during the school year. Many pastors and teachers are invited to come teach.

National Honor Society

National Honor Society (NHS) is composed of junior and senior high students who have a 3.6 or higher grade point average. Our National Honor Society requires a service component for all members with past projects including work with City Impact, the Lincoln Crisis Pregnancy Center and the People’s City Mission.

Spiritual Emphasis Week

One week a year is called Spiritual Emphasis Week. This week is used to intentionally focus on God’s Word and our walk with Him.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) at Lincoln Christian has a strong huddle. We believe in “Doing Sports God’s Way” and being a testimony for Christ in all activities and sports. There are currently over 30 students actively involved in our huddle.

Missions Trips

We encourage students to stretch their faith through missions trips. We’ve sent students to serve others in Mexico, Nepal, China, South Korea, Haiti, New Orleans and Kansas City. Students have also had the opportunity to attend Summit Ministries and the Worldview Christian Leadership Academies.
