About Me

My husband and I have three adult children and a growing number of grandchildren.  Since they all live within a 50-mile radius, we never lack entertainment.  I enjoy reading, particularly obscure texts that have been forgotten over the years, and I continue to feed my passion for learning through research in literature and writing.

Philosophy of Education

As an educator, my goal is to inspire all my students to become learners. My teaching assignment is English, but that merely describes an area of expertise from which I draw ideas and material to foster curiosity and promote critical thinking. In Teaching for Joy and Justice, Linda Christensen says that teaching is coaxing the brilliance out of students. My greatest academic joy is to witness my students discovering their God-given brilliance and to assist them in their learning journeys.
