About Me

I grew up in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and my husband, John, is from Minnesota. We moved to the “South” so I could attend grad school in music at UNL. We have been married for 18 years and we are blessed with two daughters, Alayna (6th grade) and Ashley (2nd grade) both of which attend LCS. I enjoy reading, attending Bible studies, playing flute and piano, hiking, baking, and spending time with family. I also enjoy performing with Coro di Flauti, a flute choir of professional and non-professional flutists, and performing with Jennifer Buehler in the Prairie Flute and Harp Duo.

Church: Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church

Philosophy of Education

I am grateful to God for this unique opportunity to share both my love of music and the Lord with my students! My goals for my students are to experience the joy of praising the Lord through music making, while learning important life long skills. These life-long skills can be summed up as the 3 R’s: respect, responsibility, and relationship. Students learn to respect each member of the orchestra and that every person is vital to the whole, just as each member of the church is important to the body of Christ. Besides learning to respect themselves and others, students discover that learning an instrument takes responsibility and dedication, requiring both individual and group practice over a long period of time. This is similar to the dedication needed to develop one’s faith over a lifetime. Lastly, playing in a musical ensemble at LCS gives students a way of developing close relationships with others who love both music and Christ!
